Warehouse
Management Software ( WMS )
RETROTECH'S WMS - Warehousing Software
for Automated Material Handling Distribution Management
Product Overview - In
addition to Retrotech's AS/RS and ACTIV Systems software,
Retrotech provides a WMS
RETROTECH'S WMS (RWMS) operates off a UNIX or LINUX platform
giving it flexibility for any size application.
RETROTECH'S
WMS is network compatible. Databases are structured RDBMS
(Relational Data Base Management System), allowing SQL
and 4GL access for query and reporting. Typical Graphical
User
Interfaces (GUI) are easily developed from utilities and
ever-changing report requirements are handled simply, through
the RDBMS report generators. Any special requirements modules,
such as communications drivers, are developed using 'C'
code, clearly documented and annotated for future reference
by
our client's support staff. All source code is non-proprietary
and fully provided. |

Functional Module Descriptions
Receiving Modules - Receiving functions
provide for intelligent routing of materials from the point
of receipt. Receiving supports the following functions: |
| |
|
Received against order verification |
|
Unexpected receipts management |
|
Routing to area destination determination |
|
Cross docking receiving |
| |
Put
away Modules -
Putaway functions are designed to optimize storage requirements
by determining
if pre-established business rules, or database parameters,
are affecting location selection in the warehouse. Criteria
can take into account material and storage limitations. These
functional criteria are as follows:
- Safety regulations regarding materials
- Temperature controlled
zones
- Quarantine or incubation zones
- Destination demands from
WIP
- Movement efficiency
- Store nearest use-point
- Multiple storage site management
- FIFO/LIFO management
|
| |
Material Tracking
Modules - Managing inventory
requires real-time access to all materials. Material tracking
provides the physical verification and location information
needed to control timely order processing. This function manages
in-transit information on logical material movement and maintains
pending completes. This software provides flexible destinations
for on the floor stacking, in-rack locations, workstations,
mechanical interfaces to automated systems, and pending activity
zones. Tasks include the following items:
- Receive pallet, product, and location
information from RF devices or terminals
- Verify valid received
data
- Flag invalid received data
- Provide anomaly handling for
invalid destinations/products/pallets
- Maintain an in-transit
inventory queue for allocation or destination re-assignment
|
| |
Inventory Control
Modules - Inventory functions
are driven by individual customer requirements with maximum
flexibility provided under the RDBMS structures to accommodate
a wide range of business sectors. By establishing a flexible
database system, information required to make decisions and
drive algorithms are available in the part master database
or the pallet or unit database.

- Routing Criteria
- Movement criteria
- Handling and packaging information
- Quarantine or special

Order Entry & Processing
Modules - Order
entry provides for both manual input and Host downloaded
order receipt. This module provides order maintenance for
processing
by best practice, such as order consolidation by truck route
and pick consolidation by order. Decision criteria for order
processing will be determined by the following information
and then processed to fill the order, as follows:
- Best location
to pull from base on FIFO, LIFO, Customer Requirement
- Material
allocation to orders
- Closest quantity to order requirements
- Order pick consolidation,
where possible
- Best route and destination to merge and
stage order
- Order timing requirements
- Special instructions/truck
fill sequence
|
| |
Order Picking & Replenishment
Modules - Picking requires rapid, easy to use interfaces for maximizing
operator
productivity. Order pick software develops best approach
path selection to meet the order processing by location requirements.
Order pick software prompts equipment and pick operators
to
move efficiently through order requirements and provides
input for verifying decrements to inventory as order levels
are filled.
Tasks performed in this software are as follows:
- Pick sequence
assignment by zone/area/equipment
- Priority assignment
by order requirement
- Pick slot replenishment status
- Output prompts to pickers
and devices
- Input receipt from devices
- Verification of pick completion
messages to devices/inventory modules
- Status and anomaly
information handling for pick slots
- Pick to pallet status
creation
|
| |
Shipping Modules - Shipping functions require
accurate handling of materials merging from various origins.
Verification of actual receipt of expected materials to shipping
staging slots is executed in this software to properly complete
order fulfillment or create a reconciliation request for shortage
materials. Tasks operating in these modules are as follows:
- Dock
destination assignment/verification
- Anticipated receipts
from order processing by origin
- Verification input via
RF or CRT terminal entry or bar-coded data
- Shipping operator
notification of staging completion
- Anomaly handling for
sequence errors in staging
- Truck loading data from Host
- Emergency shortage requests
- Manifest printing
- Reconciliation/shortage reporting
|
| |
Real Time Material Tracking
- Real Time Control
RETROTECH'S WMS provides the tools to
manage all the material handling requirements in the manufacturing
and general distribution environment. RETROTECH'S WMS is
designed to integrate automated material handling such as
ACTIV, AS/RS, AGVS, unit load and box conveyor, palletizing
and de palletizing equipment, stretch-wrapping equipment,
sortation banks, and robotics. RETROTECH'S WMS can link the
material management systems and provide non-stop material
flows throughout your distribution operation. |
