Palletizers
& Depalletizers
Retrotech employs palletizers/depalletizers in ASRS designs. Retrotech applies the best product for material type, rate and stacking pattern. The wide variety of designs includes articulated arm, layer and pusher forming units.

Palletizers are usually used to support
manufacturing operations, receiving cases directly from production
lines. Products
are typically stacked onto GMA or other pallets according
to customer designated requirements for height, weight and
overhand of cases or cartons.
Palletizers provide automated
material handling of the pallet build function. On occasion
they are used to build mixed product builds. This means
that some arrangement cases (called patterns) on a single
level
of the pallet or layer, often called 'ti' (tier) and then
stacked 'hi' (high or number of tiers stacked). This provides
more than one SKU or product in combination on the pallet
to accomplish filling an order directly to pallet. This
requires significantly better case and order control via
rules the
equipment can manage. Depalletizers are reversing the palletizer
operation, theoretically, and can be used to release layers
or streams of cases out to trucks via extendable conveyors
or to WIP stations via singulation of a layer into streams.
Depalletizers are also used to take products from single
SKU per pallet and release the cases to palletizers for a
mix build pallet. |
